Nov 01, 2018 (newstodate): Tajikistan's government is fighting to keep its national carrier, Tajik Air, flying.
The airline is in dire needs of investments, operating at heavy debts and with a basically obsolete aircraft fleet of 35 units, including three rotary-wing aircraft, of which only five are airworthy.
As one effort to rescue the carrier, an order has been placed for delivery of four Bombardier aircraft including two CRJ200 and two CRJ900 aircraft.
The first CRJ200 aircraft is now in the fleet, and the second will follow before the end of the year, while the two CRJ900 aircraft will be delivered in 2019.
The Tajik state is now mulling plans for putting the entire stake in the airline up for sale to an investor willing to re-shape the airline and invest in new aircraft.
