Feb 01, 2018 (newstodate): The delivery of another Bombardier CS300 aircraft to launch customer airBaltic is now imminent.
The aircraft, the 8th to join the fleet of airBaltic, is now ready for delivery after a prolonged delay, ostensibly due to the problems with the deliveries to Bombardier of the Pratt & Whitney PW1500G engines.
Thus this 8th aircraft was originally slated for delivery already before the end of 2017 after having performed its first flight on November 30, 2017.
By the end of 2019, airBaltic is planning to have all 20 Bombardier CS300 aircraft so far ordered at its hub at Riga Airport, and plans have been aired for placing a fresh order with Bombardier for "at least" 14 more Bombardier CS300/CS100 aircraft while phasing out the current fleet of 12 Bombardier Q400 turboprop aircraft, the first of which was delivered in November 2009.
