May 04, 2018 (newstodate): The new Swedish ACMI carrier under formation, ScanBlu is running slightly behind schedule in efforts to get airborne prior to the summer traffic.
Hopes were to have the first aircraft in the fleet as well as the AOC in place before the end of April - but both things are now expected only during the cause of May.
-We have run into delays in delivery of our first aircraft, an Airbus A319 that is now undergoing maintenance in France. The issue has been finding a replacement engine, but a solution has now been found, says Christian Tadjeran, ScanBlu CEO and Accountable Manager.
-Once the aircraft has been delivered and the AOC is on the desk, we will start operations and prepare for adding our next aircraft, an Airbus A321. There is a huge demand for capacity in the market now and we are eager to launch business as soon as possible once the AOC has been landed.
-Earlier, plans were to base our A319 at Corfu under a contract with Ellinair, but we have received requests from many other parties as well so it is still not decided where the aircraft will actually be positioned.
-Cockpit crews are now in simulator training pending the first delivery so we expect to launch business in two or three weeks' time, says Mr Tadjeran.
