Aug 23, 2018 (newstodate): Ryanair Sun has seemingly come off to a good start in Poland and will have added capacity from summer 2019.
The new carrier has initially been operating a fleet of five Boeing 737-800 aircraft based at Warsaw Modlin Airport and operating flights on behalf of tour operators to leisure destinations from Warsaw, Katowice, Poznan and Wroclaw from summer 2018.
As Ryanair has seen a drop in operations in Ireland this summer also caused by pilot union actions, the Ryanair Board has decided to move another five or even more Boeing 737-800 aircraft to Ryanair Sun in 2019, increasing the offering to Poland's tour operators.
Ryanair Sun has earlier aired its ambitions to grow the fleet on the charter carrier's own AOC to 15 aircraft in 2019 and to 25 in 2020.
This first summer, Ryanair Sun's main customers have been tour operators TUI Poland and Grecos Holidays flying tourists from Krakow, Poznan and Wroclaw to leisure destinations in Greece, Spain, Croatia, Albania and Cyprus.
Until now, the three largest provider of charter capacity in the Polish market are Enter Air, Travel Service and Small Planet Airlines Poland - but Ryanair Sun will probably challenge these positions..
