Oct 14, 2019 (newstodate): The Lithuanian charter and ACMI carrier GetJet Airlines seemingly made a wise decision in adding wide-body capacity to its fleet.
Earlier this month, the IOASA-certified carrier landed a contract with the Polish carrier LOT to operate flights between Warsaw and Toronto, in Canada, alternating with LOT's Boeing 787-9 aircraft, and covering for the scarcity of LOT's own fleet due to ongoing inspections of the Boeing 787 engines.
Earlier the GetJet Airbus A330 was serving the Canadian carrier Sunwing Airlines on a wet-lease contract in September 2019, also on routes to and from Canada, following after a wet-lease contract with Tunisair.
In May 2018, GetJet Airlines was granted a Foreign AOC by Transport Canada allowing it to launch air transport services to, from and within Canada.
The only carrier in the Baltic region to go wide-body, GetJet took delivery of the ex-Air China Airbus A330-300 aircraft on February 1, 2019, and is considering adding more Airbus A300 aircraft to the fleet.
-If our first steps in this new strategic direction prove successful, we are certainly open to the option of adding further wide-body capacity to our fleet.
-In general, being able to offer transatlantic flights and other long-haul options has definitely strengthened our position in the market, Darius Viltrakis, GetJet Airlines CEO, told newstodate as reported on March 20, 2019.
Based at Vilnius Airport, GetJet Airlines is member of the Estonian Completec Group.
