Oct 31, 2019 (newstodate): Plans by the US company USAerospace Associates LLC to re-launch WOW Air's Transatlantic flights between the USA and Iceland are shaping up - but still somewhat delayed against earlier expectations.
-We are now expecting to launch flights between the USA and Keflavik by November or December 2019, confirms the company's spokesman in Iceland, Gunnar Steinn Palsson, GSP Communications.
-There seems to be some confusion in the media about the plans for the revived WOW Air, but the business model of the airline remains unchanged: both passengers and cargo are integral parts of WOW Air from the start.
-USAerospace Associates LLC is headed and majority-owned by Michele Ballarin as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, and is an experienced provider of air cargo and freighter operations for customers including US military.
-And with the current build-up of the US Air Force presence at Keflavik, WOW Air would be well-positioned to carry military cargo into Iceland as well as offering ample space much in demand for Icelandic exporters of seafood to the US market.
-The opening flight of WOW Air might thus very well be dominated by cargo while the new airline starts promoting its low-cost offerings in the passenger markets on both sides of the Atlantic, says Mr Palsson.
At this stage, no further details on the fledgling airline's fleet plans are available.
