Nov 21, 2019 (newstodate): The beginning of the end for a unique aircraft type: the first Airbus A380 cannibalization has been completed.
The aircraft, formerly in service with Singapore Airlines that was also the first airline to operate this aircraft type, was acquired by the German company Dr Peters and the equipment dealer manager, the American company VAS Aero Services.
The process of dismantling the aircraft started earlier this year at the facilities of the French company TARMAC Aerosave, 33.6 percent owned by Airbus Industries and based at Tarbes-Lourdes, in France.
Already now, a second A380 cannibalization is under preparation.
Singapore Airlines was the first carrier to take delivery of the Airbus A380 that entered commercial service with the first flight between Singapore and Sydney on October 25, 2007.
