Dec 16, 2019 (newstodate): Already in 2020, a new aircraft maintenance facility will launch business at Lithuania's Siauliai Airport.
With a total area covering 23,000 sq m, the new facility named Aviatic MRO will provide maintenance services for Airbus A320, Boeing 737 Classic and Boeing 737 NG aircraft, including D-checks, management of assets and parking.
From the start, only minor maintenance works will be provided, while full-scale services will commence in 2021 after completion of new hangar facilities.
In May 2019, the Lithuanian company JSC Termicom signed landed a long-term lease land agreement to build the facility designed to maintenance of aircraft types including Airbus A320, Boeing 737, Boeing 777, Airbus A330 and other large types.
The coming new facility will comprise workshops for maintenance of aircraft systems, repairs, parts and components repair, testing, and parts painting.
Plans are to start construction work already by the latter part of 2019, with the MRO facility to start operations by March 2021.
In May 2019, Termicom, part of the Estonian Completec Group that also comprises the carrier GetJet Airlines, signed landed a long-term lease land agreement to allow for the coming new MRO center.
Owned and operated jointly by Lithuania's Ministry of Defence and Siauliai Municipality, Siauliai Airport does not belong to the State Enterprise Lithuanian Airports managing the airports at Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga.
A former Soviet air base, Siauliai Airport with a 3,500m CAT 1 runway and a second 3,280m runway is today also a key air base serving the NATO air forces supporting the monitoring of the Baltic air space.
Abundance of space will allow Aviatic MRO to provide ample space for parking of aircraft awaiting MRO or for aircraft leasing companies to position aircraft pending redelivery.
In October 2019, Aviatic MRO signed a cooperation agreement with the international aircraft rental company World Star Aviation that owns a fleet of nearly 100 aircraft.
