May 03, 2019 (newstodate): The grounding of the world's fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft puts further pressure on ACMI providers, including the Danish ACMI and charter carrier Jet Time.
-We have indeed seen an increase in requests from aircraft brokers, airlines and tour operators due to the MAX 8 fleet grounding, says Birthe Madsen, Jet Time VP Management Support.
-Already the first week after the grounding resulted in some 40 requests, and we managed to assist some of our regular customers and partners including Norwegian and TUi during brief periods, as well as performing ad-hoc flights on specific days. As of now, we provide flights on a seven-weeks ACMI contract with Norwegian out of Copenhagen airport.
-These solutions have, however, been possible only during the low-season months of March and April prior to the busy summer charter period, leaving us with some potentials for freeing capacity during a brief period only.
-Once the summer charter season starts in May, all our aircraft will be contracted, including one aircraft operating on an ACMI contract with Transavia all through the summer, says Ms Madsen.
