Jul 31, 2019 (newstodate): Based on an MoU signed in early July by the presidents of Finland and South Korea, Finnair's long-nourished hopes for flights to a second destination in Korea are now materializing.
Finnair has thus announced the launch of flights between Helsinki and Busan, South Korea’s second-largest city with 3.5 million inhabitants, on March 30, 2020, pending regulatory approvals under negotiation.
The initial schedule will comprise three weekly rotations with Airbus A350 aircraft during the Summer 2020 program.
A novelty on Finnair's route map, the opening of the new route will also become the Korean airport's first direct non-stop air link to Europe.
Also the first airline to fly non-stop to South Korea from Northern Europe, Finnair launched flights with five weekly rotations from Helsinki to Seoul in June 2008, adding a sixth flight from December 20, 2010, and currently operating daily flights on the route.
