Aug 01, 2019 (newstodate): While growth prospects for Iceland's Keflavik Airport have turned sour after the demise of WOW Air and other carriers with flights to Iceland, rumours of a new Asian route opening may bring some relief.
Still to be confirmed, sources claim that the Chinese airline Tianjin Airlines has applied for three weekly slots at Keflavik Airport and Helsinki Airport for the coming winter 2019/20 schedule.
The carrier is thus said to be planning flights on a route from Wuhan via Helsinki to Keflavik.
With headquarters in Tianjin Binhai International Airport, Tianjin Airlines operates a fleet of 92 aircraft including six Airbus A330 aircraft.
