Sep 13, 2019 (newstodate): Iran is fighting an uphill battle to keep its commercial aviation going despite a harsh sanctions regime.
The capital's Imam Khomeini Airport registered 47,446 takeoffs and landings in the last Iranian fiscal year ending March 20, 2019, corresponding to a drop by 19 percent, y-o-y.
The airport handled 7.27 million passengers and 141,704 tons of cargo which was down 19 and 14 percent, respectively.
In July 2019 the airport handled 740,719 passengers and 14,411 tonnes of cargo including 6,970 tonnes imports and 7,441 tonnes of exports.
