Jan 06, 2020 (newstodate): Georgia's hopes to add an Indian low-cost carrier to its booming list of new operators in 2020 are in doubt.
Latest newcomer to add flights to Tbilisi, in Georgia, from 2020, was to be the Indian low-cost carrier Indigo, with the first flight scheduled for March 5, 2020.
Now, Indigo has postponed the launch of flights to Georgia without specifying a new date for the service planned for a daily rotation on the route between New Delhi and Tbilisi with Airbus A320/Airbus A321 aircraft as the first airline connecting the two countries with direct flights.
According to Georgia's Civil Aviation Agency, Indigo is amid a review process to start operations to new international destinations and cannot specify the exact date when it will enter the Georgian market.
Indigo Airlines is the largest Asian low-cost carrier in terms of fleet size, and the 7th largest carrier in Asia operating 196 aircraft and with orders placed for another 412 aircraft.
