Nov 09, 2020 (newstodate): Finnair has agreed with Airbus to defer the remaining Airbus A350-900 deliveries by one year.
The next three aircraft will thus have to wait for Finnair until Q2 2022, earlier slated for Q2 2021.
The agreement is a part of Finnair's comprehensive measures to enhance the company's chances to emerge in strength from the COVID-19 pandemic; and as a result of the deferrals, the carrier's cash flow from investing activities will be approximately 200 million euros less in 2021.
Finnair took delivery of its latest Airbus A350 aircraft on September 1, 2020, bringing the fleet to a total of 16 aircraft for long-haul operations.
The next three deliveries will complete Finnair's intake of Airbus A350 aircraft.
Serving the long-haul routes are now also eight Airbus A330-300 that entered the fleet from 2009, while the fleet of seven Airbus A340-300 introduced from 2006 were phased out by early 2017 already.
