Dec 03, 2020 (newstodate): Construction works will start at Latvia's Riga Airport to adapt to needs for serving NATO aircraft and personnel.
Reported by Latvian media, the government will invest 530,000 euro into the infrastructure dedicated to supporting NATO Allies’ forces in peacetime or in times of crisis.
-It is important to secure certain resources, territory and infrastructure, as well as to provide the necessary access to the country’s ports, roads and airports. In this matter, Riga Airport is of particular importance, playing a strategically significant role in the implementation of tasks related to the defense of the state, an announcement reads.
