Sep 04, 2020 (newstodate): As an element on its list of forthcoming new tax increases, the Danish government will reintroduce a tax on aircraft registration expected to harvest another DKK 10 mio in state revenues.
Not exactly what the troubled Danish aviation industry is craving..
-Needless to say, a tax on bringing an aircraft on Danish registry is a further cost for an airline. Technically speaking, one thousandth does not sound like much - but in the context of the value of an aircraft it translates into a considerable amount of money, says Birthe Madsen, Jettime VP.
-In the fleet of Jettime are today four Boeing 737-800 and one Boeing 737-700. We expect to increase the fleet as the demand for leisure travels picks up again in 2021 and 2022. So en extra cost in registration tax per aircraft by DKK150-200.000 is most certainly not what we would like to see..
-Our fleet is currently in active storage program as there is currently no market demand. We cannot predict the post-Covid-19 situation, but additional costs will certainly further add to the pressure on an industry already severely hit, says Ms Madsen.
