Dec 17, 2021 (newstodate): Another new airline project in Lithuania is soon to lift-off: Jump Air.
Based at Vilnius, Lithuania, the new carrier has just taken delivery of its first passenger aircraft, an ATR72-500, on a lease contract with Elix Aviation, and now expects to obtain its AOC later in December, readying for launch of services in January 2022.
Jump Air plans to be operating a mixed cargo and passenger fleet of up to four ATR72-500 aircraft by 2023, aiming at ACMI, wet-lease and charter operations in South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Established in early 2020 in a partnership between AliPlan S.r.l and EU Wings S.r.l., Jump Air earlier aimed at start of operations already by Q1, 2021 - before the effect from the coronavirus struck the global industry.
-We would hardly be able to compete in the challenging west European markets, so our goal is rather to seek business in other markets, such as Africa or Asia, Dovydas Jurgelevicius, Jump Air Accountable Manager, told newstodate in February 2021.
-We will start out with just one passenger aircraft, and depending on cashflow after the first three to six months we will then decide on adding more capacity, also including the cargo market in our business plan, said Mr Jurgelevicius.
