Mar 16, 202 (newstodate): Ukraine and China are at loggerheads over the future of Motor Sich, a large engine manufacturer for rotary and fixed wing aircraft.
In 2017 the Chinese company Beijing Skyrizon Aviation purchased a 41 percent stake in Motor Sich, but a Ukrainian court froze the holding for national security reasons.
According to a government source, a group of Chinese investors currently owns about 75% of the shares in Motor Sich and part of a disputed block of shares in the company was used as collateral for funds provided by the China Development Bank, among others.
Now, the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council plans to legally restore state ownership of the Motor Sich company to ward-off the Chinese plans for taking over the company.
As a result, the Chinese investors are opening legal action to secure their interests.
