Apr 20, 2021 (newstodate): The US carrier United Airlines is putting Iceland on its route map again in summer 2021 - and with not just one, but two routes to Keflavik Airport.
Starting from July 1, 2021, the carrier will be online on the route between Chicago and Keflavik with a daily rotation using Boeing 757-200 aircraft till October 4, 2021.
This comes on top of the earlier announced daily flight on the route from New York to Keflavik starting already from June 3, 2021 and operated till October 30.
Benefiting from the opening of Iceland to vaccinated travelers, Delta Air Lines has also confirmed plans for flights between the USA and Iceland in summer 2021 - even adding a new US destination to its traditional summer services.
Starting from May 2021, the carrier will thus be offering daily rotations on routes to Keflavik Airport from New York and Minneapolis - but even adding Boston as a new destination, also with daily rotations.
The route from New York will be launched from May 1, 2021, with Boeing 757-200 aircraft; flights from Boston will follow from May 20, and flights from New York will commence from May 27, 2021, in both cases operated with Boeing 757-200 aircraft.
It remains to be seen if a third US carrier, American Airlines will be back to Iceland in summer 2021, having earlier been mulling plans to launch flights from Philadelphia to Keflavik from June 3, 2021, with Airbus A321 aircraft.
