Jun 30, 2021 (newstodate): Good news for Norway's seafood exporters: Ethiopian Cargo is adding fresh capacity to its services at Oslo Airport.
-With the first flight today, Ethiopian Cargo is introducing its third weekly Boeing 777-200 freighter on the route from Oslo to Seoul Incheon Airport, in South Korea, says Wogayehu Terefe, Ethiopian Airlines Regional Manager Nordic & Baltic Countries.
-The aircraft is ferried from Liege to Oslo, fully dedicated to the Norwegian seafood market and lifting up to 100 tonnes of shipments on the direct flight that benefits from the right to operate from Oslo to South Korea Incheon utilizing the Trans-Siberian route.
Ethiopian Cargo is now operating direct flights from Oslo to South Korea on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, in addition to offering the capacity on passenger flights from Oslo to Addis Ababa and beyond, served six times weekly.
While the Seoul freighter is fully dedicated to the Norwegian market, the belly capacity of the carrier is marketed and sold across the Nordic markets as well as in the Baltics.
At Oslo Gardermoen Airport, the carrier is handled by SAS Ground Handling and Spirit Air Cargo Handling, while cargo sales are provided by Kales Airline Services.
Ethiopian Airlines has been operating the route Addis Ababa-Stockholm since October 28, 2003, after moving its Scandinavian services to Sweden from Copenhagen Airport, Denmark.
The carrier next extended the route with a further leg between Stockholm and Oslo from March 27, 2017.
