Jan 25, 2022 (newstodate): The Latvian carrier airBaltic has landed its 27th code-share agreement with the Italian airline ITA Airways.
The new code-share agreement allows airBaltic to boost its presence in the Italian market, expanding its network by adding its prefix on selected ITA Airways operated flights covering 10 Italian cities in the current winter season: Brindisi, Bari, Catania, Genoa, Palermo, Reggio Calabria, Lamezia Terme, Turin, Trieste, Venice, adding also Bologna, Florence, Naples, Verona in the summer season.
For ITA Airways, the agreement will allow the carrier to apply its code on flights operated by airBaltic between Italy and Latvia.
In the fleet of the state-owned Italian carrier ITA are 52 aircraft, including 18 Airbus A319, 27 Airbus A320 and 7 Airbus A330 aircraft.
In 2022, the fleet will rise to 78 aircraft, to reach 105 aircraft at the end of 2025.
That is, of course, if it will eventually perform better on commercial terms than its predecessor, Alitalia that also lived a turbulent life depending on Italian state investments and support - and failed.
