Jan 13, 2022 (newstodate): UPS is seeing the launch of the new service between Denmark's Billund Airport and its European hub at Bonn/Cologne Airport as a fresh step forward.
-Local businesses of all sizes in western Denmark will benefit from later cut-off times and a faster connection to traditional and new global markets in Germany, the rest of Europe and beyond, says Michiel van Veen, UPS Nordic Mng Dir, based in Stockholm.
-This expansion in our air network reflects our confidence in the growth of local SMEs and how we are helping these partners reach new international opportunities.
With the first flight on January 3, 2022, the carrier is online at Billund with five weekly flights coming in from Keflavik to Billund, continuing to Bonn/Cologne Airport in a cooperation with UPS that has long been serving the route between Billund and Cologne with an ATP aircraft operated by West Atlantic.
Bluebird Nordic is serving the route with a Boeing 737-800 converted freighter, with exports of Icelandic seafood providing a solid basis for the profitability of the route.
Billund Airport became a steady UPS destination from March 14, 2011, when the integrator UPS revised its set-up for freighter services, replacing Malmo Airport with Billund.
