Oct 20, 2022 (newstodate): Since May 12, 2022, the Latvian carrier airBaltic has managed to reignite its cargo operations from Kyiv, Ukraine.
The carrier is cooperating with Ukraine's postal company UkrPoshta in carrying postal shipments from Ukraine by a regular truck line Kyiv-Riga for uplift at Riga Airport to flights on airBaltic's route network.
According to airBaltic, more than 400 tonnes of mail shipments have so far been carried from Ukraine.
airBaltic has been online with flights between Riga and Kyiv since February 15, 1996, launched with Fokker 50 and later going up to Avro RJ70 aircraft; prior to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, airBaltic operated three routes into the country, covering Kyiv, Lviv, and Odesa, accounting for some seven percent of the airline’s revenue.
