Dec 15, 2022 (newstodate): According to statistics provided by Avinor, Evenes Airport has handled no international flown cargo in November 2022.
This seems to be in stark contrast to the launch on November 2, 2022, of Lufthansa Cargo's once-weekly rotation with Airbus A321F aircraft on the route between Frankfurt and Evenes, flying in with e-trade commodities and returning to Frankfurt with the capacity of lifting some 27 tonnes of Norwegian salmon for direct transfer to onward flights to Lufthansa and Lufthansa Cargo destinations in Asia and North America.
The freighter service is a joint project between the Norwegian salmon producer and exporter Nordlaks, the freight forwarder Salmosped, and Lufthansa Cargo.
On newstodate's inquiry, Lufthansa Cargo offered this comment:
-Yes, operations are going as planned, operating every Wednesday between Frankfurt and Evenes with the A321F. We are always very close to our max payload out of EVE. Hence, I don’t know where this Avinor information is coming from, says Nikola Todic, Lufthansa Cargo Head of Business Development A321F Fleet.
According to Avinor, the discrepancy is "probably" caused by Lufthansa Cargo's failure to report the data.
