Feb 07, 2022 (newstodate): In November 2021, Ryanair applied for a spree of slots from summer 2022 at Norway's Oslo Airport.
Ryanair is already operating flights from Oslo Airport to London, Vilnius and Katowice; but applications were filed for launching also eight new routes to Paris, Palma de Mallorca, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Alicante, Berlin, Brussels and Malaga.
Now, the carrier seems to have shelved plans for expansion in the Norwegian markets; the slots have reportedly been returned, leaving Ryanair serving only the routes offered today.
Ryanair opened Norway's Oslo Rygge Airport on March 30, 2010, as its 37th base with three aircraft allocating three aircraft to operate flights on 27 routes.
But in response to a hike in airport charges from April 1, 2016, Ryanair moved its operations instead to Oslo Airport from October 30, 2016, starting out with four flights daily to London Stansted and Vilnius and later adding flights to Katowice.
At Oslo Airport, Ryanair is served by Menzies Aviation as its ground handling partner.
