Mar 08, 2022 (newstodate): Exceptionally strong demand for cargo capacity continued in February '22 as Finnair's total cargo tonnes increased by 102.4 percent, year-on-year.
A total of 12,469 tonnes of cargo was carrier, including 9,031 tonnes on passenger flights, up 278.5 percent, y-o-y, and 3,438 tonnes on all-cargo flights and down 8.9 percent, respectively, reflecting the growing increase in the carrier's passenger flights.
4,963 tonnes were carried on the Asian lanes, an increase by 126 percent, while 2,875 tonnes were carried on the North American traffic.
During the first two months of this year, Finnair has thus generated 25,020 tonnes of cargo, up 119.4 percent, y-o-y, including 10,499 tonnes on the Asian traffic that increased by 119.4 percent.
The comparisons with 2021 statistics are impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic - and from March 2022 the statistics will also reflect the ongoing war situation in Ukraine, rendering comparisons even less meaningful.
