Aug 26, 2022 (newstodate): Contrary to earlier speculations, Oslo may still stand a chance of seeing the return by Thai Airways in the not-too-distant future.
Thai Airways suspended all Scandinavian services from April 1, 2020, as the Covid-19 pandemic deepened, returning flights to Copenhagen again from Bangkok to Copenhagen Airport since July 17, 2020, and to Stockholm from October 2021.
In Norway, hopes were to see Thai Airways returning earlier in 2022 - but this did not happen; the airline's office remains closed and staff was laid off.
Now, a Thai media quotes chairman of Thai Airways’ reform committee, Piyasavat Amranand, saying that Thai Airways will restart direct service between Bangkok and Milan, Italy, and Bangkok and Oslo, Norway, by year’s end or early in 2023.
Thai started operating flights to Oslo from June 15, 2009, offering five weekly flights that are also of great importance to Norway's seafood exporters.
Today, Thai Airways is online at Copenhagen with daily flights, while Stockholm is served with five weekly rotations from Bangkok, going up to daily services from the start of the coming new winter schedule.
