Sep 09, 2022 (newstodate): Isavia has regained confidence in a sustained surge in passenger flow through Keflavik Airport in 2022.
By the start of 2022, Isavia cautiously foresaw passenger volumes in 2022 to land around 4.6 mio. But the forecast has now been updated to 6.2 mio passengers - almost 50 percent higher..
The optimistic forecast is driven by the fact that after a summer 2022 with 24 airlines operating at Keflavik Airport connecting to 75 destinations, the airport will now see some 20 airlines operating flights in winter 2022; in winter 2021 17 airlines offered flights to 56 destinations, and in W'19 16 airlines planned flights to 54 destinations.
Compared to other Nordic airports, Keflavik Airport is little affected by the ongoing Russian/Ukrainian war as the focus is on US/Europe traffic and not on Asian lanes, as in the case of not least Helsinki Airport.
