Jan 02, 2023 (newstodate): The Lithuanian charter and ACMI carrier GetJet Airlines is back in Canada with a new wet-lease customer.
Starting from January 1, 2023, one Boeing 737-800 has entered commercial service with the Canadian ultra-low-cost carrier Fly Swoop owned by WestJet, the second-largest airline in Canada and one of the top 10 airlines in North America by the number of passengers carried.
In May 2018, GetJet Airlines was granted a Foreign AOC by Transport Canada allowing it to launch air transport services to, from and within Canada.
As its first business in the Canadian market, GetJet Airlines signed a short-term contract with Sunwing Airlines for one Airbus A319 aircraft, with the first flight operation performed on September 22, 2019.
In October 2029, the IOSA-certified carrier also landed a contract with the Polish carrier LOT to operate flights between Warsaw and Toronto, in Canada, alternating with LOT's Boeing 787-9 aircraft, and covering for the scarcity of LOT's own fleet due to ongoing inspections of the Boeing 787 engines.
