Nov 08, 2023 (newstodate): Summer 2024 will see the return of Finnair flights from Helsinki to Nagoya, Japan, suspended since 2020 due to the outbreak of the corona pandemic.
Services will start from May 30, 2024, with two weekly rotations using Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
Finnair is already operating from Helsinki to Tokyo Haneda and Narita, as well as Osaka and in the summer schedule 2024, the carrier will be operating a total of 20 weekly frequencies to Japan.
Effective from June 2006, Finnair launched its first direct scheduled passenger flights between Helsinki and Nagoya, Finnair's third destination in Japan.
Prior to the Covid-19 outbreak, Finnair's program for flights to Japan comprised Tokyo Narita, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka, and Sapporo, but in summer 2022 Finnair was forced to suspend all services to Japan due to the Covid-19.
In 2023, Finnair returned services on its route from Helsinki to Osaka, Japan, on March 26, offering three weekly rotations with Airbus A350 aircraft.
In the 2023 summer season, Finnair has operated flights to Tokyo's Narita Airport - served since April 22, 1983 - four times a week, in addition to its daily flights since October 30, 2022, to Tokyo's Haneda Airport.
In summer 2020, plans for Finland-Japan flights comprised a total of 45 weekly flight, with Japan Airlines flying daily to Tokyo Haneda, and Finnair operating a total of 38 weekly flights to six destinations in Japan.
