Nov 06, 2023 (newstodate): Member of the Lufthansa Group, Brussels Airlines has now completed its planned move between airports in Stockholm.
As of October 29, 2023, the carrier is operating flights between Brussels and Stockholm Arlanda Airport after years of service since 2004 at Stockholm Bromma Airport.
Due to strict environmental limits at Stockholm city-center airport at Bromma, airlines are restricted to operating only smaller aircraft such as turboprop aircraft and jet aircraft up to the size of Airbus A319.
At Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Brussels Airlines is now offering 16 weekly rotations from Brussels, and has signed a five-year contract with Aviator Airport Alliance to provide a full package of passenger and ramp handling as well as de-icing services.
With the move, Brussels Airlines will be able to operate the route from Brussels with the larger Airbus A320neo aircraft now joining the fleet to replace the aging Airbus A319 aircraft.
Starting from May 1, 2023, all Lufthansa Group airlines are handled by the Nordic ground handling company Aviator Airport Alliance at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
In February 2023, the two parties signed a five-year contract comprising ground handling and de-icing services of the Lufthansa Group airlines including Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Swiss International Air Lines, and Austrian Airlines.
The contract is estimated to comprise the handling of some 111 turnarounds per week.
Another Lufthansa Group subsidiary, Eurowings, selected Aviator for ground handling and de-icing services for its flights from Stockholm to 12 European destinations already from March 27, 2022.
And now Brussels Airlines has completed the process..
