May 08, 2023 (newstodate): The regional aircraft lessor Nordic Aviation Capital has again found a new customer for its fleet of Dash 8-400 aircraft.
Latest newcomer on the list is the Italian carrier Sky Alps that has signed a contract for the acquisition of four Dash 8-400 aircraft from NAC's stock.
By this contract, Sky Alps doubles its existing fleet of four De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 aircraft leased from Chorus Aviation Capital.
Earlier this year, one Dash 8-400 aircraft was sold to the Polish carrier LOT, while another Dash 8-400 on NAC's stock was sold last week to Icelandair; in March 2023, NAC also delivered one Dash 8-400 on lease to LAM, the flag carrier of Mozambique with a hub at Maputo International Airport.
NAC may still have quite a number of Dash 8-400 aircraft awaiting outright sale or new leasing customers; by February 2023, the Latvian carrier airBaltic completed the planned redelivery of its entire Bombardier Q400 aircraft fleet to NAC.
The fleet comprised 12 units that were all phased out from production and grounded at Riga Airport as the carrier decided to go for an all-Airbus A220-300 fleet from May 2020.
The 12 aircraft were leased from Nordic Aviation Capital under a sale/lease-back contract expiring in 2023.
