Aug 14, 2023 (newstodate): After until recently serving for almost 11 years in various positions with SAS Cargo, Soren Norso has been tasked with growing the cargo business at Air Greenland.
Starting from July 2023, Mr Norso has thus taken up a new assignment as Air Greenland Head of Cargo, based in Nuuk, Greenland.
Until SAS Cargo's restructuring in 2022 comprising the sale of its forwarding arm Trust Forwarding to Scan Global Logistics, Mr Norso served as Trust CEO from July 2013, and earlier served with a/o DHL Express for more than eight years starting in 2003.
The coming airport infrastructure now taking shape in Greenland will offer new opportunities and challenges for Air Greenland in the air cargo market.
Today, Greenland's only Atlantic airport with traffic from Denmark is the outlying Kangerlussuaq Airport in the south, which requires transfer of cargo on smaller aircraft for shipments to and from cities in Greenland, notably Nuuk.
With Greenland's new infrastructure in place, international flights can be operated starting from the end of 2024 at the new Nuuk Airport as well as at Ilulissat Airport, a coastal town in western Greenland with significant seafood industries, with both airports to be equipped with a 2,200 m runway.
