Oct 28, 2024 (newstodate): According to Italian media, the Lufthansa Group is close to acquire a stake in the Latvian carrier airBaltic.
Citing sources close to the negotiations, Lufthansa aims for a share at around 10 percent in airBaltic which would translate into some 30 mio euro, according to Corriere della Sera.
Neither Lufthansa nor airBaltic have however provided any comments, refuting the story as mere speculation.
In the meantime, airBaltic and the Lufthansa Group are indeed consolidating their cooperation in summer 2025.
The two partners have thus extended their ongoing wet-lease partnership by a further three years starting from summer 2025.
The new partnership will see airBaltic allocating up to 21 of its currently 48 Airbus A220-300 aircraft for performing flights on behalf of Lufthansa Group.
Since 2022, airBaltic has been a capacity provider for Lufthansa Group carriers, including five Airbus A220-300 aircraft on the network of Eurowings as well as six Airbus A220-300 aircraft on a wet-lease agreement with Swiss.
