Oct 01, 2024 (newstodate): Russia expects this year's cargo volumes to grow by 14.9 percent, y-o-y, to about 540,000 tonnes.
The comparison with volumes in 2023 is, however, marked by the low base in 2023 when volumes dropped by 22.9 percent, y-o-y, to 500,000 tonnes as a result of the implementation of western sanctions on Russia.
During the first seven months of this year, Russia's cargo volumes reached 300,000 tonnes, an increase by 2.3 percent, y-o-y, and according to the country's socio-economic development forecast for 2025-2027, volumes in 2027 will reach 820,000 tonnes, up 74.5 percent on pre-sanctions levels in 2023.
This is still a far cry from earlier years; as an example, Russia's total cargo volumes reached 1,148,091 tonnes in 2018..
