Oct 28, 2024 (newstodate): The Russian president has signed a decree for ending the German company Fraport's part-ownership of St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport.
Fraport's 25 percent stake in the Russian airport will thus be transferred to a Russian holding company.
Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Fraport has already put its engagement in Pulkovo Airport on ice pending a solution to the future issue of ownership.
In June 2009, the Northern Capital Gateway consortium, in which Fraport held a 35.5 percent share alongside Russia's VTB Bank and the Greek Horizon Air Investments, emerged as the preferred bidder in the tender for operating Pulkovo Airport, Russia's fourth-largest airport, from 2010 and 30 years ahead.
The Danish engineering consultancy company Ramboll was appointed lead design consultant on the complete redevelopment of St Petersburg Pulkovo Airport, and was put in charge of the project's first design phase requiring a multidisciplinary team involving 200 Ramboll employees from different business units in Russia, Denmark, the UK and Sweden.
The St Petersburg contract placed Ramboll among the top-five engineering consultancies in the world within airports and aviation.
