Nov 29, 2024 (newstodate): Norse Atlantic Airways is applying a flexible approach to keeping its fleet busy through the year despite seasonality.
In summer periods, the carrier is focusing on operating own scheduled routes, primarily on the Transatlantic network, while slack winter seasons require the carrier to seek external customers for ACMI and other lease contracts as well as operating charter flights.
In line with this, Norse has announced inking an LOI with a "reputable international airline" for wet lease of six aircraft, subject to final agreements, mutual corporate approvals and regulatory approvals.
Pursuant to the LOI, and provided final agreements are executed based on the terms therein, two aircraft are expected to be deployed in February 2025, with an additional four aircraft expected in September 2025.
The initial contract term could be further extended, subject to regulatory approval, to cover a longer-term period, with an estimated contract value of USD 462 million over that extended term.
In summer 2024, Norse also obtained the extension by another year of the lease of three Boeing 787-8 aircraft to Air Europe, with redeliveries now slated to March-May 2025 rather than by March-May 2024 as earlier planned.
In Q3/2024 and through the winter schedule, the carrier plans to allocate at least half of its aircraft capacity comprising 15 Boeing 787 aircraft on ACMI and charter contracts.
