Apr 25, 2024 (newstodate): SAS has happily avoided the problem with engine issues hurting many airlines and keeping large swathes of aircraft grounded.
SAS has opted for CFM International Leap power plants for its Airbus A320 fleet, thus avoiding the troubles with the alternative Pratt & Whitney geared turbofan.
Today, the carrier operates a fleet comprising four A350-900, eight A330-300, 88 A320ceo/neo, and 10 Embraer E195 aircraft as well as 17 Bombardier CRJ and six ATR 72 aircraft on lease contracts.
In 2025, the carrier will take delivery of two more Airbus A350 aircraft, and on the order books are also seven A320neo, replacing 10 A320ceo slated for retirement and bringing the A320neo fleet to a total of 80 units.
