Apr 11, 2024 (newstodate): Copenhagen Airport reports a strong increase in cargo volumes by 19.5 percent, y-o-y, to 77,306 tonnes handled in Q1/2024, legacy and integrator carriers included.
Cargo volumes by legacy carriers alone were up by 25.6 percent to 55,433 tonnes, while volumes on integrators DHL and FedEx dropped by 3.1 percent to 21,873 tonnes.
According to the statistics delivered, the growth in volumes carried by legacy carriers derives primarily from an increase by 50.3 percent in belly cargo to 29,988 tonnes, while loads on legacy all-cargo operations also increased by 25 percent to 403 tonnes.
The airport points out, however, that part of the volumes by all-cargo operations may have been erroneously registered as belly cargo, blurring the detailed picture while the over-all figures hold true.
-Considering the fact that this year's Easter fell in April and not in March as in 2023, the Q1 performance bodes well for a sustained increase in cargo volumes this year, also bolstered by a strong development in the airport's long-haul flights program, says Lars Gotfredsen, Copenhagen Airport Snr Air Cargo Manager.
