Apr 09, 2024 (newstodate): Icelandair has now taken final leave of its first-ever Boeing 757-200 aircraft.
The aircraft entered service with the carrier in April 1990 and served Icelandair for 33 years after performing its last commercial flight in August 2023, converted to freighter in 2006.
The aircraft last took to the air by the end of 2023 on a flight to Pinal Airpark for eternal parking.
At its height, Icelandair Cargo's fleet comprised five Boeing 757 freighter aircraft, while the company today has downsized the fleet to only two Boeing 767-300BCF aircraft, one of which is serving with Icelandair, while the second has been placed on an ACMI/lease contract with the Uzbek carrier FlyKhiva.
