Apr 09, 2024 (newstodate): In the years ahead, Latvia will need upgrading and expansion of its air navigation infrastructure.
To secure the coming investment program 2024-26, Latvia's air transport infrastructure company Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme, LGS, has now secured financing from The Nordic Investment Bank accruing to 24 mio euro as a loan securing the construction of a new Air Traffic Control Tower at Riga Airport and an advanced air navigation system.
The new facility will also allow the introduction of Remote Control Tower technology for other airports in Latvia, facilitating centralized air traffic control.
The coming upgrading of the infrastructure will improve air traffic control safety, reduce fuel consumption, lower emissions and minimize noise, aligning with the objectives of the European Green Deal.
