Apr 24, 2024 (newstodate): Lithuania is keen to develop cooperation with Egypt, also on aviation-related issues.
Lithuania's Minister of Transport Marius Skuodis has been meting in Cairo with Egypt's Minister of Transport, the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, and the Minister of Civil Aviation.
On the agenda have been plans to cooperate more closely, improving the countries'direct air connections as well as maritime transport and logistics connections.
One outcome of the discussions is a decision to see the Egyptian Minister of Civil Aviation in Vilnius later this year to conclude an Air Services Agreement between the two countries, opening prospects for launch of regular scheduled flights between the countries.
Today, direct flights between the two countries are provided only by charter carriers operating from Lithuania to Egyptian leisure destinations Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh on behalf of tour operators.
