Apr 10, 2024 (newstodate): Lithuania's Avia Solutions Group, ASG, has now secured the start of passenger and cargo flights by its new UK subsidiary, Ascend Airways.
   The AOC was delivered by the UK regulator on April 5, 2024, and the carrier will initially operate one Boeing 737-800 and one Boeing 737 MAX 8 from the base at London Gatwick Airport.
   Founded in 2004 as Synergy Aviation specializing in VIP, aero-medical and air ambulance flying, urgent freight and AOG support, and tasks in zones of conflict with a small fleet of Citation aircraft, the carrier was acquired by ASG by the start of July 2023 and rebranded Ascend Airways.
   ASG has long been present in the UK aviation market managing MRO and Charter Brokerage businesses, but adding the UK AOC will generate new opportunities for the Group in the UK and enable it to expand the geographic reach of ACMI and Charter services with 180 to 200-seat capacity aircraft.
   ASG's airline companies also include SmartLynx Airlines, Avion Express, Bluebird Nordic, BBN Indonesia Airlines, KlasJet, and Magma Aviation.
