Apr 26, 2024 (newstodate): The Danish carrier Maersk Air Cargo is seeking a strengthened foothold in the UK.
The carrier has filed an application with the UK Civil Aviation Authority for obtaining an operating license to operate charter and scheduled flights between any combination of points, within the terms of its AOC.
In November 2023, the carrier announced its decision to operate a trial service till the end of the year between Bournemouth Airport and Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport.
By the start of April 2024, Maersk Air Cargo opened a new freighter route between the UK and China, operating three weekly rotations with a Boeing 767 freighter between Birmingham and Hangzhou, routed via its European hub at Billund Airport and including an en-route stop at Navoi, in Uzbekistan, in both directions between Billund and Hangzhou.
Launching freighter operations at Billund Airport from March 20, 2023, with three weekly rotations between Billund and Hangzhou, the carrier is now offering daily rotations on the route in addition to ad-hoc operations to and from other European airports.
