Apr 12, 2024 (newstodate): Sweden's Jonkoping Airport is reporting a drop by three percent y-o-y in cargo volumes handled in Q1/2024.
A total of 787 tonnes of cargo was thus handled at the airport, with the decline mainly attributed to the drop in regular cargo that was down by 14 percent during the three months, to 507 tonnes.
On the positive side, the airport recorded an increase by 130 percent to 108 tonnes in ad-hoc cargo volumes from notably Milan-Bergamo, while postal volumes also grew slightly by one percent to 172 tonnes.
New in 2024 from January 2 were four in-night flights on the route from Karlsruhe via Jonkoping continuing to Esbjerg, Denmark, and returning directly to Karsruhe, operated by the Estonian cargo carrier Airest using SAAB 340A freighter aircraft.
Jonkoping Airport exited 2023 with a drop in volumes by 11 percent, y-o-y, to 3,072 tonnes of cargo and mail.
