Apr 15, 2024 (newstodate): Norway's Evenes Airport is back again as a venue for the country's seafood air exports.
In March 2024, the airport handled 652 tonnes of seafood shipments destined for the global market, and this year's first quarter thus delivered a total of 1,458 tonnes of international cargo handled at Evenes Airport.
While still modest in volumes, the figures still prove the capabilities of Evenes Airport as a venue to air logistics for seafood exporters in the country's northern region, as a viable alternative to trucking south to Oslo Airport.
With the first flight on October 31, 2023, Qatar Airways Cargo marked its return to the airport, and in November-December '23, Qatar Airways Cargo lifted a total of 800 tonnes of cargo on a weekly Boeing 777F service from Evenes to Qatar.
