Apr 12, 2024 (newstodate): Faced with the massive necessity of servicing the Pratt and Whitney engines on its Airbus fleet, Wizz Air is reliant on wet-lease and ACMI capacity to keep the schedule running.
The carrier is now taking in three Boeing 737-800 aircraft on an ACMI contract with Ukraine's SkyUp Airlines' Maltese subsidiary.
During the period from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, Wizz Air will base two of the leased SkyUp MT aircraft in Bucharest and the third in Warsaw.
This capacity will complement three Airbus A320 aircraft already leased by Wizz Air from the Lithuanian carrier Avion Express' Maltese subsidiary.
These aircraft are already located at Wizz Air's bases in Gdansk, Sofia and Tirana.
