May 28, 2024 (newstodate): Air Serbia is soon to take in its 10th ATR 72-600 aircraft, leased from the Danish regional aircraft lessor Nordic Aviation Capital.
The aircraft is part of the repeat order announced earlier this year between the two partners.
Under the new lease contract, NAC would place three ATR 72-600 aircraft with Air Serbia, bringing the carrier's fleet of ATR72-600 to ten, enabling it to expand regional operations and bolster frequencies on existing routes.
The two parties inked their first contract in January 2022 for lease of six ATR 72-600 aircraft.
The first aircraft was handed over to Air Serbia in May 2022, and the sixth and last in the original series was delivered in January 2023.
In addition, Air Serbia has also wet-leased one ATR72-600 from the Romanian carrier Air Connect.
The ATR 72-600 fleet has replaced Air Serbia's earlier fleet of smaller and aging ATR aircraft, including three ATR 76-200 delivered to JAT already in 1990, and two ATR 76-500 aircraft.
