May 08, 2024 (newstodate): April was yet another month in 2024 with growth in cargo at Helsinki Airport.
In April, the airport handled a total of 14,542 tonnes of cargo, an increase by 5.2 percent, y-o-y.
The growth was generated by international cargo that increased by 5.5 percent to 14,437 tonnes.
During this year's first four months, Helsinki Airport has seen cargo volumes up by eight percent, y-o-y, to 58,302 tonnes of which 53,364 tonnes were international cargo, up 8.3 percent.
Boding well for a continued increase in cargo this summer is Japan Airlines increasing from currently three to five weekly rotations between Tokyo Haneda Airport and Helsinki Airport.
Finnair is also to increase, with services to Osaka Kansai International Airport to go up from three to five weekly rotations; flights to Tokyo Narita International Airport will increase from four to six weekly rotations in addition to the currently daily service to Tokyo Haneda International Airport.
In addition, Finnair is returning services to Nagoya from May 30, 2024, with two weekly rotations.
