May 13, 2024 (newstodate): The Lithuanian carrier Avion Express is advancing in its plans for a new subsidiary in Brazil.
The Brazilian aviation authority is currently handling the application received by the start of this year for issuing the AOC for Avion Express Brazil.
Avion Express Brazil is now announcing the start of the Phase 3 of the certification process for its AOC in Brazil. Recently, the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency approved the finalization of Phase 2 of the certification process.
In the coming weeks, Avion Express Brazil is expected to receive feedback on its manuals and other documentation already submitted to ANAC. This is anticipated to lead to the successful conclusion of Phase 3 and the completion of the AOC certification process this year, allowing the airline to commence ACMI operations in Q4 2024.
Avion Express has also now taken delivery of its first aircraft, an Airbus A320 from the mother company currently on Lithuanian register and operating on a lease contract with Wizz Air.
Avion Express Brazil plans to focus on providing ACMI services to potential customer airlines in Colombia, Chile, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic.
Avion Express expects to launch business in Brazil with a fleet initially comprising up to 10 Airbus A320 Family aircraft, with plans to scale up to 25 aircraft by 2027/2028.
